Gustavo Pimentel

Gustavo Pimentel was born into the heart of a guitar building family in the year of 1968 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His musical desire to play the guitar arose from the exposure of his family's passion for building guitars. He fell in love with the art of playing the guitar by listening to famous guitar performers that occasionally visited the Pimentel and Sons Guitar Shop. His musical education initiated in 1979 at his family's studio, Pimentel & Sons, where he studied with fine musicians. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1986, where he was then offered a scholarship from Tucson, Arizona that he declined. He heard the critically acclaimed guitarist Manuel Lopez Ramos, who accepted him into his academy of music "El Estudio del Arte Guitarristico." He graduated from that school in 1995.

He plays with intensity and emotion. He has performed for Mexico City's department of Hacienda, Pueblas' Ayuntamiento, San Luis Pososo's Ayuntamiento, and other cities in Mexico. He has also performed in the U.S.A. He has also been on television and radio. A popular New Mexican Hispanic music magazine says "He is a master of his instrument."
