"Hector Pimentel is of Portuguese/Mexican decent, and a lifelong resident of New Mexico. He held his first guitar at the age of eight and gave his first recital at the age of twelve. The eldest of twelve children, he was born into a family that is very much involved in the art of making some of the worldÆs finest hand-crafted guitars.
Strongly influenced by classical-guitar legend Andres Segovia, Pimentel has himself become a world-class master of the Spanish classical guitar. He is also a recording artist, instructor and performer of instrumental music from New Mexico. He is published in four countries, presently featured on PBS in San Bernardino and featured in several national publications of life, culture and arts.
Performances range from concert halls and festivals to corporate shows and official government entertainment in the US, Japan and Canada. Pimentel performs solo, in duet with violin or guitar, and with a full ensemble of Latin percussion, gypsy-style flamenco dance and strings.
His recordings include: Passionate Heart, Masterpiece Alma Latina, and Infania. He is presently recording two additional CDs. Pimentel is the recipient of the New Mexico Governor's Award of Excellence in the Arts, and is often referred to as a New Mexico Treasure."
